| Cocoa Expo Stadium was last used by professional baseball when the Marlins used this as their spring training home for their inaugural season of 1993. Before that, the Astros had also used this ballpark as their spring home before moving to Kissimmee. It last hosted minor league baseball in 1977 when the Cocoa Astros of the Florida State League played here. Cocoa Expo Stadium is now independently owned and operated and is used by amateur teams. The condition of the ballpark isn't great as there are just benches for seating (no box seats), but it is suitable for amateur play. Obviously the last paint job it recieved was before the '93 season as the Marlins teal color is still present. Professional baseball will be given another shot here in the winter of '09 when the Space Coast Surge of the Florida Winter League arrive. |
