Melching Field is the home of the Stetson University baseball team, but has also hosted some Daytona Cubs games over the past several years, including one in 2007. Located 25 miles inland from Daytona Beach, Deland's ballpark has been an ideal temporary venue for the Cubs like in 2004 when Jackie Robinson Ballpark sustained some hurricane damage. Melching Field, which opened in 1999, was built on the same location as Conrad Park, the previous field for Stetson. The ballpark is named after R. Dale Melching, a member of the Stetson Sports Hall of Fame.
