| I never did see a game at
this park which the movie Bull Durham made famous. But I was able to visit
and get inside on a trip here in '97. Unfortunately the field does not
look the same now as it did when it was used as a minor league park. The
infield grass has been ripped up and a completely dirt infield remains
as it is currently being used for softball as well as some amateur baseball. The
grandstand is mostly covered, but is not as nice as others at parks like
<../macon/macon.htm">Macon and Pittsfield. There was a lot of opposition when the new Durham
Bulls Athletic Park was being built, but they clearly have a better
facility to play in now.
