Sims Legion Park last hosted professional baseball in the early 1990's when they had a team in the South Atlantic League. For the 2002 season, the Coastal Plain League (a summer collegiate league) has placed a team here. The park was built in 1977, but has a much older feel to it - probably because of the covered grandstand, the large amount of brick work, and the cement wall that surrounds the park. The seating is mostly benches with just a few individual box seats in the front rows of the grandstand. Its setting is in an industrial part of the city, so the view is unspectacular. Still, Sims Legion Park has some charm and character, so it's good to know that it's getting more use now.
