Stanky Field was home to professional baseball in the mid 1990's when they hosted the Mobile Bay Sharks of the Texas Louisiana League. But once the city of Mobile built the brand new Hank Aaron Stadium for an affiliated team in 1997, the independent Bay Sharks were forced out. Stanky Field is located on the campus of the University of South Alabama and still plays host to the USA baseball team. The seating is all wooden benches on an uncovered grandstand. A concourse runs behind the main grandstand. The field itself has one unique feature - there are no dirt baselines between home plate and the bags. Certainly Stanky Field will never host pro ball again, but it is a nice college park that should remain in use for many more years.
