Silver Stadium was the home of the Rochester Red Wings for many years until they moved into the new Frontier Field in 1997. I am one who thinks that Rochester never needed a new park at all. Silver Stadium was a fine facility to host baseball. It was a great baseball park, something that Frontier Field is not because it has to be used for multiple sports. Silver Stadium featured a large covered grandstand with covering provided for about half the seats. And all seats were close to the action. The concourse was located underneath the grandstand as is the case with most older ballparks. People complained about it being in a bad section of town, but this was just an excuse to get a new park built. Silver Stadium was a great place to see a game, and it's unfortunate that the Red Wings had to move.
