Round Rock, a suburb of Austin, lured the Jackson, Mississippi franchise here. They have been in the news, primarily because Nolan Ryan is part owner of the team. The stadium looks to be very nice, though the setting is lousy. Is is located on a busy road on the edge of town. It appears to have been built in an open field. It is an easy park to find, but traffic must be brutal after the game as everyone is parked in the same lot and there is only one road out. Dell Diamond is pretty similar to other AA parks that have been recently built, though a little bigger, which explains why they shifted to AAA in 2004. It is built into a bowl with the concourse overlooking the field. The luxury boxes are located directly above the concourse. The seating sections stretch from foul line to foul line and are all fold down plastic chairs. Additionally, there is a grassy berm in the outfield that fans can sit on. A small bleacher section is located in right field, but appears to too far from the field to get a good view. The interior of Dell Diamond can be completely circled - this is a feature that I wish all new parks would include. I only stopped to snap some photos here, so have yet to see a game. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll certainly try to catch a game here.
