The Astrodome was home to the Houston Astros from 1965 until 1999, at which time they moved into Enron Field. I never did see a game here and was not able to get inside on my visit in 2008. From everything I've heard, it wasn't a great place to see a game. But the Astrodome will go down as one of the great engineering marvels in history. Being the first dome ever built, it was dubbed "the eighth wonder of the world". After years of an unclear future, it was decided that the Astrodome would be saved. In 2018, over $100 million was approved to renovate the building into an event space. The renovations are scheduled to be completed in 2020. In 2014, the Astrodome was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
