Stitzel Field was known as Riverview Field when it was used for professional baseball from 1947-1950. It hosted the Poughkeepsie Chiefs of the Colonial League. I'm not really sure if these bleachers date to 1947 or not. Apparently the grandstand was always uncovered and only featured bench seating, so this in fact may be the original structure. Though I have heard from a site visitor that when the Chiefs played here, the field was in fact reversed. Currently the field is used for softball and youth baseball. Stitzel Field is located just a mile or so from downtown Poughkeepsie in a residential neighborhood. If anyone has any further information on Stitzel / Riverview Field, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
