| Tradition Field (formerly known as Thomas J. White Stadium) hosts spring training for the New York Mets as well as a Florida State League team. While the park is adequate, it is in no way attractive or intimate. In fact, I would term it as being ugly. The park is made of almost all concrete, making for a very cold atmosphere. It does feature a cantilevered roof which provides a roof for at least some of the fans. Most of the seating is folding chairs while some bleachers are located down each line. The concourse area is located beneath the seating area. When I visted in 1999, the park appeared to be in the middle of nowhere, but several readers have emailed to tell me that Port St. Lucie is now booming. The park overlooks some practice fields, but the view is unspectacular. Extensive renovations were made to Tradition Field before the 2004 season ensuring that the Mets will train here for many more years.
